Grande Prairie & Surrounding Area

This city is actually quite versatile. With Bear Creek running through the length of the city, Muskoseepi Park with its expansive variety of trails, and South Bear Creek Park laden with the beauty of nature, possibilities within the city limits are endless. Stepping outside of that boundry broadens that scope of possiblity even more.
Stepping outside of the city limit boundary broadens that scope of possibility even more. Big Mountain Creek Park, Sunflower & Swallow Gardens, and the Wapiti River all offer fantastic views and they're really not that far to travel. This is a list of locations for you to think about for your next photography session.
Muskoseepi Park
This is one of the main parks in Grande Prairie.
The trail system of Muskoseepi Park is quite extensive, often paved and has beautiful foliage along the way. There is a pond, bridges, mature trees, benches, and field areas all within walking distance of the parking area beside the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion. Regardless of the season, Muskoseepi park is well maintained by the city and is a comfortable public meeting place for most people hoping to stay close to or in the city. It's an ideal spot for a cake smash, or a quick photo session.
Sunflower & Swallow Gardens & Greenhouse
This is an amazing property near Bezanson, so it takes about 30 minutes to get out there. But, when I tell you its worth it. I MEAN IT. Through-out the whole year, the owner of the property meticulously designs and plans areas of the yar specifically for photographers to use. The spring offers tulips, the summer offers different crop patches and rows up rows of sunflowers. In the winter, the greenhouse is the perfect warm and cozy location for Christmas photos. It is a FANTASTIC location for photography.
Local Playgrounds
There are a TON of playgrounds in this city, and many of them have beautiful fields and tree areas. Avondale orange park, the Lions Park, small playgrounds in your own cul-de-sac, Maskwoteh Park near the hospital... These are just a few of the spots I've used for photo sessions and had a great time at all of them.
Your OWN home!
That's right. The spot that keeps you warm at night and protects you from the weather, can be a perfect place to capture the images of your family. There is a level of peace and comfort that comes with celebrating your home with photos. Celebrating your life, exactly as it is, in this moment.
South Bear Creek Park
This park is exceptional in the fall. Due to the creek, and the ravine it creates, there are a lot of trails! The colours and views are wonderful. It becomes a very popular spot for photographers to frequent in the autumn due to its convenience and beauty.
Wapiti Dunes Recreation Trails
This is a great spot that just skirts the edge of the city. It's quiet and gives a remote feel without very far travel. There are a lot of walking trails through tall trees, little areas for picnics, and a large paved trail that is great to help with mobility. You can often find people walking their dogs at this location.
The GP Photo Studio
This is a studio location that photographers can rent as a space to hold their sessions. It's a beautiful room full of furniture and areas to use to create all sorts of images! It was great to use as an indoor location during the holiday season!
